Dorset businesses need to think about growth in the coming months and years. Because of this, Dorset County Council has supplied seed funding for a fresh, business focused group called The Dorset Export Group. With support of key agencies, this project is being driven by Major Events International – a company with a wealth of experience within international markets. The group’s core purpose is to introduce Dorset companies to international opportunities in order for them to do more business than in their current markets. The group will also actively stimulate investment into Dorset from overseas companies looking to partner with our businesses.
The Dorset Export Group will be a professional membership group that brings together our most ambitious business people into one community. Support will be provided to inform businesses of the huge opportunities from around the world and take the businesses to those market places to speak with key people. The group will help with pre-mission preparations and post-mission follow ups to help maximise the investment in these activities. By promoting companies and skills from Dorset, in-bound visits will also be coordinated and even for companies who may not wish to export, this will generate additional opportunities for local growth. Part of this strategy will also focus on how we can all benefit from the opportunities presented by hosting part of the 2012 Olympics in our region but the group is here for the long haul and hopes to help businesses for many years after 2012.
The group will have its official launch the 5th October 2010. Attendees will include government trade ministers, business leaders and key decision makers within organisations and hopefully many representatives from local and nation media. At this event there will be a briefing about the aims and objectives of the group and details of how people can quickly get involved to increase their market share and the wider benefits on offer.
