The 4th British Beach Polo Championships were held at Sandbanks this weekend (8th & 9th July 2011) with it’s usual mix of excitement both on and off the Polo field.
Beach Polo is a bit like playing golf with a beach ball whilst riding a horse flat out on the sand, and with Polo sticks flying it’s amazing that the players don’t finish every chukka with horrific facial injuries!
Professional Beach Volleyball returned to Sandbanks with Robin Miedzybrodzki & Tom Lord (GBR) competing against Dimitris Apostolou & Efstathiou Konstantinos (Cyprus) for the Men’s international Beach Volleyball Title and raised the temperature even more when they decided to play shirtless to the obvious approval of many of the women in the grandstands.
But the Sandbanks Beach Polo isn’t just about the sport, glamourous party goers were entertained throughout the weekend with the Champagne and Pimms flowing freely as well as DJs and a performance from The Hoosiers on Friday night.
The sun shone, the party rocked and the sport excited – another successful year for one of the area’s essential events.
