Runner Ade Holloway has teamed up with Parley Golf Centre for the eight mile ‘Jet 8 Race’, which takes place at 10.30am on Sunday September 2.

Runners, many of whom will be dressed in red, will follow a picturesque route down the first fairway, past Throop Mill and the River Stour in Parley, and back past Parley Manor. Money raised will go to the Jon Egging Trust, the charity set up in memory of the Red Arrows’ pilot who lost his life at last year’s Air Festival. The Trust helps provide opportunities to inspire young people into the world of aviation.

Ade, a member of the Littledown Harriers and founder of Run Yer Socks Off, said: “A running event seems the perfect way to celebrate the life of Jon Egging – a man who had an incredible zest for life and who was determined to help young people reach their potential. The scenery around Parley Golf Centre and the river is stunning and we hope hundreds of runners will join us for this very special event.”

Hugh Dampney of Parley Golf Centre added: “With Bournemouth Airport on our doorstep and with planes for the Air Festival taking off and landing there throughout the event, this seemed like a very fitting location for a fundraising event which will help young people explore their own ambitions to fly.”

Admission to the run is £14 for club-affiliated runners or £16 for individuals and runners are also asked to raise funds through sponsorship. Beautician and personal trainer Becky Green will lead a warm up ahead of the event and refreshments will be provided at the Parley Golf Centre afterwards.

Artwork for the race has been provided free by Deluca Design.

Dawn Egging, Jon’s mother and a member of the Trust said: “We are very grateful to Ade for holding this event on behalf of The Jon Egging Trust.”
