The Olympic sailing events in Dorset have brought a surge in business for one local catering firm as spectators aboard luxury yachts order gourmet breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas.

Beales Gourmet Catering has received orders from wealthy spectators aboard motor boats and sailing yachts of up to 90ft anchored off the coast of Weymouth and Poole for parties of between 12 and 20 guests plus crew members.

Tony Beales, founder of the company, said: “The Olympics have been great for business – demand has been high for local food such as Portland Crab as well as gourmet delicacies and homemade cakes. We’ve been providing breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea – delivered via a small speedboat to the yachts or delivered to clients direct in the harbour. It’s wonderful to see so many people enjoying our spectacular coastline and it’s great to see local businesses benefiting.”

Catering guru Tony has a strong reputation amongst the sailing fraternity, having worked for years as a chef aboard luxury yachts before launching Beales Gourmet in 2005. The company now manages the Italian Villa at Compton Acres at Canford Cliffs in Poole and provides outside catering for events all over the South Coast.
