Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government to visit Bournemouth seafront

Eric Pickles MP will be visiting Bournemouth on 14th August.

The purpose of the visit is to announce the allocation of the first round of Coastal Communities Fund grants. Successful applicants will receive a grant of between £50,000 and £2million to support the economic development of their coastal community.

The Coastal Communities Fund supports economic development projects in coastal areas across the UK. The Fund will be used in a wide range of projects including ones that create local jobs and support coastal tourism and development , The funding is drawn from profits generated by the Crown Estate’s marine activities and is administered by the Department for Communities and Local Government in partnership with the BIG Lottery Fund.

Mr Pickles will also meet key Councillors, Council Officers, local tourism business & academic leaders at the BIC.

Mr Pickles will then be taken along Bournemouth’s multiple Blue Flag winning seafront, past our accessible beach huts to Boscombe, where he will be shown the successful regeneration that has already taken place.
