McKenna Townsend receives the PRide Award for Integrated Communications

Ringwood-based communications agency, McKenna Townsend scooped seven awards including gold in the Integrated Communications, Public Sector and Not-For-Profit categories at last night’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards. The glitzy ceremony was held at the Ageas Bowl, home to Hampshire County Cricket Club, and honoured PR practitioners in the CIPR’s Wessex and Channel Islands region, which includes companies from across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The agency, which provides regional, national and international PR support for a range of clients including the SUBWAY® brand, WestQuay and The Oracle Shopping Centres, the National Marine Aquarium and Condor Ferries, was shortlisted for no less than ten categories, finally walking away with three Gold awards and four Silver awards on the night.

Sarah Townsend, co-managing director of McKenna Townsend, said: “What an amazing night for the agency. The awards are a testament to the hard work and professionalism of the agency’s team who work tirelessly for our clients. We were particularly pleased to win the award for Integrated Communications. We are now looking forward to working on more award-winning campaigns for our clients.”

CIPR CEO, Jane Wilson MCIPR, added: “The Wessex CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from across the region. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving regional industry. The CIPR PRide Awards represent the best, most creative and most effective public relations work across the UK and to win an award is a great achievement.”

The glittering evening also saw co-MDs Matthew McKenna and Sarah Townsend presented with the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. The award recognises their outstanding work in the public relations profession and service to the Institute, and is the highest membership grade of the CIPR.

McKenna Townsend was set up nine years ago by co-managing directors Matt McKenna and Sarah Townsend, and continues to be the leading public relations agency in the Wessex region.

The CIPR PRide Awards, sponsored nationally by Precise, PRWeek and RedBrand, receive over 1,000 entries from freelancers, consultancies and in-house teams across twelve UK regions and nations. The judging process for the PRide Awards is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. The 2012 Chairs of Judges, Gill Dandy FCIPR, Senior Consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi FCIPR, Senior Consultant at APCO Worldwide, assisted in ensuring a fair and consistent judging process.
